Toastmasters International
Recently, one of my fellow club members said that before joining, he had always thought that Toastmasters was a cross between Amway and Alcoholic's Anonymous. No, Toastmasters is an educational club that provides a supportive, non-threatening environment in which to help you enhance your communication and leadership skills. There is simply no substitute for the experiential learning that Toastmasters meetings can provide.
National Speaker's Association (NSA)
I've heard people say that the difference between Toastmasters and the NSA is that Toastmasters is for amateurs and the NSA is for professionals. This is simply untrue. The Toastmasters organization is for the practice of speaking, and the NSA is for the business of speaking. Conferences, competencies, and local chapters are available for networking and professional development.
